Step-By-Step Measuring Guide

Prepare: Before you begin measuring, open any existing blinds, curtains, or window coverings to get unobstructed access to the window frame. Ensure the window area is clean and clear of any obstacles.

Decide Inside or Outside Mount: Decide whether you want an inside mount (blinds installed inside the window frame) or an outside mount (blinds installed outside the window frame). Different measurements are required for each mounting option.

Measure: Follow the instructions below depending on your chosen mount style. Then repeat the process to double check your measurements.

Outside Mount

1. Width: Measure the width of the window from the outer edge of the frame on the left to the outer edge of the frame on the right. Add some overlap on each side to ensure proper light control and privacy. Typically, adding 2 to 4 inches on each side is sufficient, but you can adjust based on your preferences.

2. Height: Measure the height of the window from the top of the outer frame to the bottom. Again, add some extra inches to the height to ensure full coverage and light control.

Inside Mount

1. Width: Measure the width inside the window frame at three points - top, middle, and bottom. Record the smallest width measurement as your "width" dimension. This ensures the blinds will fit smoothly without rubbing against the frame.

2. Height: Measure the height inside the window frame at three points - left, center, and right. Record the tallest height measurement as your "height" dimension. This ensures that the blinds will cover the entire window opening.
